I would like to suggest grabbing the meta description and keywords from the topic description itself.
Say, grab the first 30 or so words for the meta description and the first 15 or so valuable keywords from the description (not including pre-defined stopwords.

Below is my suggestion list:

QUOTE
Replace the 'META KEYWORDS' Content?
Replaces the 'META KEYWORDS' dynamically with content relevant to the page being displayed. Affects forums, threads, posts & member profiles.

Replace the 'META DESCRIPTION' Content?

This option replaces the 'META DESCRIPTION' content with the first words of the first posting in the page to a limit defined in the option below.

Define the 'META DESCRIPTION' Length?

The meta description tag usually consists of 150 to 200 characters or less.

Define Stopwords
When the above feature is enabled, the following words will be ommitted in the URLs. Creating a higher valued search engine optimized URL.
